Dualit Product Recipe

Hot Cross Bun Latte

Spice up your coffee this Easter with the familiar taste of hot cross buns and deliciously rich caramel.
Serves: 2-4 Preparation Time: 15 minutes Cooking Time: 20 minutes

If you can't get enough of the taste of hot cross buns during your Easter break, then this is the ideal recipe for you. Spice up your latte with the flavours of this favourite seasonal snack and enjoy as an afternoon 'pick-me-up'.

Ingredients

  • 150g caster sugar
  • 1.5 tbsp cold water
  • 30g butter
  • 60ml double cream
  • 1 tbsp ground mixed spices
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 pinches of ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp marmalade
  • 1 espresso shot
  • 150ml cold milk (frothed)
  • Whipped cream (fresh or from a can)
  • 2 tbsp caramel
Method
  1. Mix together all of the spices in a small dish and set aside.
  2. Add the sugar and water to a non-stick pan. Stir together and place onto the hob over a medium/high heat.
  3. Heat up the sugar and water until bubbles start to appear and it turns caramel in colour.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat then quickly stir in the butter until completely melted.
  5. Slowly pour in the cream, continuing to stir until combined.
  6. Add the spices to the caramel and stir for a few minutes.
  7. Add 1 tsp of marmalade to 2 tbsp of caramel and combine (optional).
  8. Loosen the caramel a little if drizzling onto the whipped cream by microwaving for 5 seconds in a small seperate dish. (plastic squeezy bottles are great for these sauces to apply easily).
  9. Extra spices can be added for your preference; ginger or cloves are good choices.

Make your latte:

  1. Drizzle a few teaspoons of the caramel around the inside of the cup.
  2. Pour cold milk into your Dualit Milk Frother and press twice for the latte option.
  3. Extract an espresso shot straight into your cup - we love the rich flavour of Intense from our Aluminium Capsule Range.
  4. Top with the frothed milk.
  5. Squirt whipped cream over the top of the frothed milk in a circular movement, from the sides finishing in the middle.
  6. Take the rest of the loosened caramel and drizzle it over the top of the cream.

Top tips...

  • Use the zest of the fresh citrus peel to decorate each drink, this gives your latte another dimension.
  • If you like your coffee stronger, add a double espresso shot.
