Homemade Pizza Dough

This homemade pizza dough is easy to make when you’re craving a tasty pizza and only uses a few ingredients. Make it your own with all your favourite toppings!

Homemade Pizza Dough

Preparation Time: 45 minutes

Makes: One large 12' thick crust base

Cooking Time: 15 minutes

We used the Hand Mixer with dough hooks to make this delicious pizza base but you can knead by hand if you'd rather.


  1. Place flour, salt, yeast and olive oil into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Very slowly pour in the warm water and mix with a Hand Mixer, or your hand, until the mixture forms a ball.
  3. Knead in the bowl for a few minutes with one hand, holding the bowl with the other, or use the Hand Mixer with Dough Hooks.
  4. When a smooth texture is formed, leave the dough in the bowl and cover with a damp tea towel or cling film and allow it to double in size.
  5. Punch down the risen dough to release air bubbles and then roll out (or press out with fingertips) on a pizza stone or a baking sheet.
  6. Allow the dough to rise again for approximately 15-20 minutes (use this time to prep your toppings)
  7. Top with passata or our pepper pasta sauce, grated cheese and toppings of your choice.
  8. Bake at 180-200C for 10-15 minutes.


Top Tips

  • Try adding mixed dried herbs or chopped sundried tomatoes to the dough for a twist on the classic base.
  • Pizzas don't have to be round, so why not try making a large square base and allocate each quarter for different toppings.
  • Coat the base with a thin layer of cheese before the sauce, this makes the base crispy.
  • Try using a cheese sauce as a base instead of tomato for an indulgent pizza.
