Jewelled Biscuits

Kids will love these magical jewelled biscuits! When melted in the oven, the hard boiled sweets create a stained glass window effect.

Jewelled Biscuits

Makes: 12 - 15

Cooking Time: 15 minutes

Use different cutters to create jewelled biscuits in a variety of fun shapes.

  1. Set the oven to 180c / 160c fan or gas mark 4.
  2. Line a tray with greaseproof paper or silicone baking mat.
  3. Using the Dualit Hand Mixer with Flat Beaters, beat the butter and sugar in a bowl until pale and creamy.
  4. Sift in the flour and continue to beat then add the milk.
  5. Change to the Dough Hooks and knead the mixture until you form a soft dough.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface or straight onto the silicone mat until about 1cm or 1/2in thick.
  7. Cut the dough into shapes using cutters.
  8. Cut a hole in the middle of the shapes and place a sweet there (half a sweet if the hole is small)
  9. Bake in the oven for 10 -15 minutes until golden.
  10. Leave to cool when out of the oven until the melted sweet has hardened. Then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling
