Ensure that heat regulators are set to the highest setting possible and the switch cannot turn any further. Any adjustment to the heat settings will take time to settle and as such these controls should not be adjusted whilst making toast.
For best results set the heat regulators both to full, and the speed to 5. Vary the speed to achieve desired brownness.
Dualit conveyors use silica glass tube elements. These may go white over time. Deposits of starch from the bread may build up on the element. This in not harmful in any way nor does it effect the toasting performance.
This probably means your settings are wrong. Allow 10 minutes for the toaster to heat up when switched on; we then recommend the following settings for the DCT2:
• Setting 7 for constant toasting with each row butting up to the one in front.
• Setting 5 for constant toasting with a small gap between each row.
• Setting 2 for non constant or customer-operated toasting i.e. bread going through at random (when being used by the general public).
Any change to the heat setting will take up to 60 seconds to take effect. If the toaster has been left idle with both elements turned on but without bread passing through, the first slices put through again will probably burn due to heat buildup. During an idle period we therefore recommend the toaster be set to the POWER SAVER setting. This will prolong the life of the elements and reduce uneven toasting when used again after the idle period.
On the DCT1, DCT2 and DCT3 models, ensure that the regulators are set to the highest setting possible and the switch cannot turn any further. Any adjustment to the heat settings will take time to settle and as such these controls should not be adjusted whilst making toast. For best results, set both the heat regulators to full and the speed to 5 (the halfway mark). Vary the speed to achieve the desired brownness – if the toast is too light, turn the conveyor speed control counter clockwise to a lower speed, if the toast is too dark, turn the speed control clockwise to a faster speed. The speed setting will take a matter of seconds to settle when adjusted.
All Dualit conveyor toasters are equipped with a temperature monitoring device that will automatically cycle the elements to ensure the perfect toasting temperature. The elements will cycle on/off continuously and will sometimes appear to be off when they are actually in automatic standby mode.
This probably means that your bread is thicker than 30mm. Do not use thicker slices or they may get stuck and become a fire hazard.
This may mean that the conveyor is overheating. If the belt continues to run and the elements have cut out, check the cooling fan is running and free of dust and dirt. If the fan is dirty, isolate from the power and clean with a soft brush.
If for this or any other reason the ambient temperature in the control box exceeds 190° F (88° C), a safety cut out is automatically activated. Leave the conveyor for 10 minutes to cool and push the reset button (underneath the toaster, on the right hand side) to begin toasting again. Remember to allow time for the toaster to heat up again. This can be reset manually by pushing the red button.
