The Classic Toaster turns pink to help The Haven

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and this year, Dualit are proud to be able to support a very special charity that helps those that have been affected by breast cancer. To support The Haven and the incredible work they do, Dualit is donating £20.00 from each sale of our 4 slot Classic Toaster in Petal Pink, when purchased through our website.

The Haven was founded in 1997, set-up to provide supportive care to breast cancer sufferers and their families, from their three Haven centres, by telephone and via their website. The Haven provide their services completely free of charge, relying on charitable donations and fundraising events to raise funds. To support The Haven and the incredible work they do, Dualit is donating £20.00 from each sale of our 4 slot Classic Toaster in Petal Pink, when purchased through our website.

The Haven provides a wide range of therapies, advice and emotional support to help people deal with the physical and emotional side effects of breast cancer. Specialist nurses and experts in nutrition, exercise and emotional support provide tailor-made programmes for each Visitor and no referral is necessary. The Haven programme provides a unique model of care that is fully integrated with hospital medical treatment. It is a global leader in its field and cancer specialists from all over the world visit Havens and learn from them. It costs around £1000 to provide the Haven programme for each Visitor and the care and support make a huge difference to their lives at a difficult time, which is why Dualit are pleased to be able to help with raising these vital funds.

For anyone who cannot get to a Haven centre, help is also available through the website - www.thehaven.org.uk - and over the phone.

There are currently three Haven centres in London, Leeds and Hereford and since the first centre opened in 2000 over 10,600 people with breast cancer have received their support. In 2011, 2682 people were treated for breast cancer at Wessex hospitals confirming that the region has one of the highest rates of incidence in the UK. With this in mind, The Haven identified Wessex as the location for the fourth Haven and in April 2013, a £2.5million capital appeal was launched. So far £1million has been raised and with this money The Haven has been able to purchase a beautiful Grade II listed property, which will be refurbished. If fundraising continues to go well the new Haven Wessex centre should open in April 2015. We hope that the donations made from the sale of the Classic Toaster in Petal Pink will assist with these costs.
